James joined Citadel as one of the firm’s first employees in 1993, after completing his Ph.D. in Physics at the University of California, Berkeley. James serves as a Charter Trustee of Princeton University and is a Director of the Princeton University Investment Company.

Joanna Welsh is Chief Risk Officer at Citadel. Joanna chairs Citadel’s Portfolio Committee. Prior to joining Citadel, Joanna was at Tudor Investment Corporation for 15 years, most recently serving as Chief Risk Officer. With more than 20 years of experience in financial services and risk management, she also held senior risk positions at Commerzbank and Nomura. Justin Lubell is Head of Citadel Global Equities and is a member of Citadel’s Portfolio Committee. He joined the firm in 2019 as a Senior Managing Director and was subsequently appointed Head of Citadel Global Equities in 2020. Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Lubell spent more than a decade at Point72 Asset Management, where he was a Portfolio Manager specializing in the Media, Internet, Telecom, and Services industries and was a member of the firm’s Risk Committee. Before that, he was a Managing Director within the Equity Derivatives Strategy team at Bear Stearns & Co. He is a CFA charterholder and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a dual bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science.

Subject: Ben S. Bernanke

Dr. Ben S. Bernanke was the Chair of the Federal Reserve Board of New York (2006–2014). He is the Senior Advisor at Citadel. From February 2006 through January 2014, he was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, having been appointed to that position by both Presidents Bush and Obama. Before his appointment as chairman, Dr. Bernanke was chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, from June 2005 to January 2006. From 1994 to 1996, Dr. Bernanke was the Class of 1926 professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University.  Dr. Bernanke had been a professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton since 1985. Doctor of Philosophy degree in Economics in 1979 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Todd Barker is Head of Surveyor Capital at Citadel and is a member of Citadel’s Portfolio Committee. Mr. Barker first joined Citadel in 2004 as a member of the Event Driven team and was then appointed Head of Global Equities Primary Strategies in 2005, Portfolio Manager in 2009 and Regional Co-Head of Global Equities San Francisco in 2012. Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Barker served as a Financial Analyst for the Investment Banking and Equity Capital Markets divisions of Goldman, Sachs & Co. Abe Shulman is the head is Convertible Arbitrage. He joined Citadel in 2013. Prior to assuming his current role, he served as a Portfolio Manager in the Global Credit group focused on convertible bonds and capital structure arbitrage. He began his career at Goldman Sachs where he worked for more than ten years, most recently as a Vice President on the Equity Derivatives trading desk. Mr. Shulman received a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.

Pablo Salame is Head of Global Credit at Citadel. He also serves on Citadel’s Portfolio Committee. Prior to joining Citadel in 2019, Salame worked at Goldman Sachs for more than 22 years, most recently serving as Co-Head of the Securities Division for 10 years. His previous roles include Head of European Equities Trading, Co-Head of Global Credit, and Global Co-Head of Emerging Market Debt. He began his career working for Citicorp. Pablo is a member of the Brown University Corporation Board of Trustees, the external advisory board of the Carney Institute for Brain Science, the Board of Directors of Signature Theatre, and of the Advisory Board of the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in applied mathematics from Brown University.

Dr. Navneet Arora Is head of Quantitive Strategies at Citadel. Prior to joining Citadel, served as Director of Quantitative Research at American Century Investments. Previously, he served as Managing Director and Global Head of Model-Based Credit Research at BlackRock and as Global Head of Credit Research at Barclays Global Investors. Dr. Arora’s publishes in academic and practitioner journals, including Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Accounting StudiesJournal of Investment Management, and Energy Risk. Dr. Arora received a Ph.D. in finance from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, a post-graduate degree from Indian Institute of Management.

Matt Simon joined Citadel in 2004, He has served in a number of roles including Portfolio Manager for the Global Equities Energy and Industrials team, Capital Goods Analyst on the Global Equities Industrials team and Analyst on Citadel’s Event Driven team. He served as Citadel’s Regional Head of Equities in Chicago from 2013-2016. Prior to joining Citadel, Mr. Simon was an Associate at Madison Dearborn Partners on their communications investment team and an Analyst at Salomon Smith Barney. Simon received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with high honors from Lehigh University and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Mark Stainton is a Special Advisor to the CEO. He joined Citadel in 2006 as Head of Commodities and was subsequently appointed to Head of Global Equities in 2016 before assuming his current role. Prior to Citadel, he served as Head of CDO and Exotic Credit Trading at Deutsche Bank. Prior to Deutsche Bank, he spent three years at JPMorgan Chase in London, where he was a specialist in interest rate and currency products. Mark began his career at McKinsey & Company and holds a bachelor’s degree from Oxford University.

Scott Johnston is the Chief Administrative Officer of Citadel. Prior to becoming CAO in 2018, Scott served as Chief Operating Officer of Citadel Securities. Scott joined Citadel Securities in 2017 from Tower Research Capital, where he was a partner and COO responsible for business development, operations and business management. Prior to joining Tower, he was Managing Director and Chief Information Officer at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), responsible for GLOBEX and clearing technology. During his time at the CME.  Scott is a graduate of the University of Michigan.

Carsten von der Linden is Chief People Officer at Citadel. He is responsible for leading the firm’s comprehensive global efforts focused on hiring, developing, and retaining the best and brightest talent. Prior to joining Citadel, Carsten was at 21st Century Fox, where he was responsible for leading the HR function during the merger between Fox and Disney. Daniel Dufresne is Global Head of Counterparty Strategy at Citadel. He joined Citadel in 1999.  Dufresne has been a member of the Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee (TBAC) since 2015, where he now serves as Vice Chair.  He previously served 11 years on the Treasury Market Practices Group (TMPG) and was a member of the Task Force on Tri-Party Repo Infrastructure which began in 2009.  He received a Master of Business Administration, with Honors, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.
