Hamilton Evans “Tony” James  (born February 3, 1951) is an American billionaire businessman, and the executive vice chairman of The Blackstone Group, a New York-based global asset management firm, having previously been president and chief operating officer. James has been chairman of Costco since August 2017.

In 1975, James joined investment bank Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and became head of its global M&A group in 1982. He founded DLJ Merchant Banking, Inc in 1985. In 1995, James was appointed chairman of the firm’s banking group, a position he held when DLJ was acquired in 2000 by Credit Suisse First Boston, and was a member of its board of directors. At CSFB, James served on the executive board and as chairman of global investment banking and private equity. Subject: Randy Quarles

Randal K. Quarles took office as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on October 13, 2017, to fill an unexpired term ending on January 31, 2018. He was reappointed to the Board and sworn in on July 23, 2018, for a term ending January 31, 2032. He was sworn in as Vice Chair for Supervision on October 13, 2017. Quarles is also chair of the Financial Stability Board (FSB). Prior to his appointment to the Board, Quarles was founder and managing director of the Cynosure Group, a Utah-based investment firm. Before founding the Cynosure Group, he was a partner at The Carlyle Group.  From September 2005 to November 2006, Quarles served as Under Secretary of the U.S. Deparment of the Treasury for Domestic Finance. Prior to serving as Under Secretary, from April 2002 to August 2005, he was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs. Prior to joining the Treasury, he served, from August 2001 to April 2002, as the U.S. executive director of the International Monetary Fund. He received an AB in philosophy and economics, summa cum laude, from Columbia in 1981 and earned a law degree from the Yale Law School in 1984.

Jerome H. Powell took office as Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on February 5, 2018, for a four-year term. Mr. Powell also serves as Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee. Prior to his appointment to the Board, Powell was a visiting scholar at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington, D.C. From 1997 through 2005, Powell was a partner at The Carlyle Group. Powell served as an Assistant Secretary and as Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury under President George H.W. Bush. Prior to joining the Bush administration, Mr. Powell worked as a lawyer and investment banker in New York City. He received an AB in politics from Princeton University in 1975 and earned a law degree from Georgetown University in 1979. While at Georgetown, he was editor-in-chief of the Georgetown Law Journal.

Adena T. Friedman is a member of the board of directors at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She assumed the role of president and chief executive officer of Nasdaq in 2017 and is a member of the board of directors. Prior to her appointment as chief executive officer, Friedman served as president and chief operating officer of Nasdaq throughout 2016. Prior to that, she served as chief financial officer and managing director of The Carlyle Group from March 2011 to June 2014, and played a significant role in taking the company public in May 2012. Friedman earned an M.B.A. from Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tennessee. She holds a B.A. in political science from Williams College in Massachusetts.
