Sir Robert Fairbairn  is a member of BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee. He is a Vice Chairman of the firm. He chairs the Human Capital Committee and Global Executive Committee Talent Subcommittee, and is a member of the Global Executive Committee, Global Operating Committee, and Director of BlackRock’s U.S. Mutual Fund Boards. Previously, Fairbairn served as global head of the Retail and iShares businesses. Prior to that, he served as head of the Global Client Group and Chairman of BlackRock’s International Businesses. His service with the firm dates back to 1993, including his years with Mercury Asset Management (Mercury) and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), which merged with BlackRock in 2006. From 1990 to 1993, he was with Lazard Investors’ business development team. Prior to that, he spent five years with GT Management as an investment manager. He earned BA degrees in history, economics, and Russian studies from Durham University in 1987.

Derek Stein is a member of BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee. He is a Senior Managing Director and is Global Head of Technology & Operations. Stein’s service with the firm dates back to 2005, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. Before joining BGI, Stein was an executive vice president at Knight Capital. Prior to that, Stein spent 10 years with Merrill Lynch & Co. Earlier, he spent several years as a senior manager with Ernst and Young’s capital markets and banking management consulting practice. Before moving to the U.S. from South Africa, Stein managed a long/short equity fund and was a practicing Chartered Accountant. Stein earned a BA degree in computer science and an MS degree in finance, both from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa.

James P. Gorman is a member of the board of directors at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He is chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Morgan Stanley. Before joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Gorman held a succession of executive positions at Merrill Lynch. Prior to this he was a senior partner of McKinsey & Co. and began his career as an attorney in Melbourne, Australia. He also serves as a director of the Council on Foreign Relations and formerly served as president of the Federal Advisory Council to the U.S. Federal Reserve Board, co-chairman of the Partnership for New York City, chairman of the Board of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. Mr. Gorman, who was born in Australia, earned a bachelor of arts degree and a law degree from the University of Melbourne and a master of business administration degree from Columbia University.
